A normally healthy person will not seem to be able to become infected by vitiligo, but truth is, it can happen to anyone; any gender, any age, any nationality. The current cause of vitiligo is not known, so it is best to do as much as you can to prevent it before you get it.

- Have daily intakes of:
- 25mcg of vitamin B12 from food and supplements
- 80 mcg of folic acid
- 200mcg of vitamin C
- 15 mcg of zinc
- Limit the amount of copper and zinc. Instead, eat clams, oysters and drink coffee
