Nails
Your nails are hard plates that grow out of your skin. They are found at the ends of your fingers and toes. The root of your nail is hidden by skin called the nail fold. Your nails are there to protect the extremely sensitive skin beneath it. Nails are made from the body protein called keratin.
FUN FACT: Your nails are dead!
The skin found at the tips of your fingers/toes make up your finger(toe)prints. These prints are all different, and no two are the same. They help you grip small objects and are used to identify people, often by the police. There are eight types of fingerprints(see photo above), the plain arch, tented arch, left slant loop, right slant loop, plain whorl, double loop whorl, central pocket loop whorl and accidental whorl. The skin on your fingertip changes once a month but the fingerprint will forever stay the same.
